Volunteer

Expectations of Volunteers

  • Some volunteers perform bilingual duties as they assess the needs of the poor and offer appropriate referral information.
  • Some assist clients to prepare necessary information forms and enter data for grants.
  • Some members help stock shelves when food supplies arrive from the Food Bank for NYC.
  • Some volunteers pack groceries, set up tents and tables, break up boxes and clean up
  • Some volunteers collect food and other donations in their local parish.

All volunteers share in the prayerful support and joy of knowing they have served “the least of my brethren.”

Before the Pantry opens every month, all the volunteers gather  for prayer and blessings on all those gathered as well as all our donors and former volunteers.  As we look around at those gathered we are often asked to  acknowledge the goodness in each person and thank them for helping. We are reminded that each person is a reflection of the image of God.

If you are ready to MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We ask you to “Join with us! Together, we are summoned to be vibrant and compassionate signs of hope in our broken world,” a world not unlike the one that St. Marguerite knew as she went about showing compassion for all. Joining With us in whatever way you wish, you can answer the question: What does it take to make a difference?

If you wish to volunteer, please contact Sister Anne Marie at beirneam@aol.com
